In an effort to localize our food sources, OFC has created programs and strategies that bridge the gap between diverse food sources and the people who need and use them. We give residents the knowledge they need to better their own communities.
We've discovered that when residents have food sources closer to home, such as community gardens, school gardens, and farmers markets, they appreciate it. They immediately prefer the fresh, locally grown produce, herbs, and vegetables to the trucked-in warehouse produce that has been stored for up to four days before it is consumed. Local is best!
