Come help out between 10am-2pm! We'll be building, planting, watering and learning more about how rooftop and backyard gardens are an accessible way for community members to secure their local food systems! </p> <p> One of our ongoing programs here at OFC has been the construction and upkeep of a rooftop garden at EC Reems Academy. Students and volunteers have worked hard building garden beds, planting and tending to them and we are very excited to get the community involved as well! </p> <p> Youth volunteers from EC Reems and Unity High School are teaming up with adult volunteers from some local organizations such as Oaklandish, OFC and Bay Localize. We have a busy schedule planned for Saturday morning. We will be building three garden beds, planting vegetable starts from City Slicker Farms and Spiral Gardens, and (everyone's favorite) hauling compost to the garden. </p> <p> Some snacks will be provided and make sure to wear clothes that are "garden-ready."
