OFC's main quarterly cultural events created to raise funds, awareness, and community participation in our projects.
OFC believes in having food and conversation ... often! Not only are food parties an amazing way to bring together diverse communities, they also provide a way to explore all sorts of new and traditional cultural foods. Explore the world and it's cultures with your palate today! We schedule once per month, and they are usually advertised in our newsletter. They are FREE, too, although there is a donation jar available to help cover our costs. Our mission with our food parties is reawaken the taste buds of Oakland!
RSVP today! We feature guest speakers on a local and national level, local business who offer a variety of locally made healthy products, and the best chefs ever!
We're not just about good food! We're all about the people and cultures that depend upon it. We believe that regardless of economic background, all people should have access to the best food produced. Not only will improved access to nutritious foods best support Oaklanders in maintaining their health, it will also bind each of us together in an intricate web of interdependence where supporting a culturally -rich food system meets the needs of Oakland's residents. We celebrate this growing movement several times per year!
Recently, GRUB's Co-Author Bryant Terry and OFC's director combined forces to put on an amazing food party for their friends and supporters. Click on the video below to learn more about what happened.
Once per planting season (typically around Feb, June, Sept, Dec), Oakland Food Connection hosts a food party Fun(d)raisers to celebrate the important work of OFC, and its valuable community contributions to Oakland. Here is where you can engage our Board, volunteers, and program participants in the development of our community-based projects. Essentially we believe that those who attend our events fundraisers, leave inspired in such a ways where they want to further support our programs.
Certainly, we consider everyone equally as our funders. Their opinions and ideas are also incorporated into our work. Overall, everyone is encouraged to further their connections to build a stronger system for "green" community members and supporters of OFC. From teachers, friends and family members of OFC employees, to community organizers and more, we keep Oakland connected to wholesome food sources and valuable networks to strengthen.
Next Fundraisers: Feb 2008, May 2008, July 2008 and October 2008.
